The Feeding our Future Scholarship
The San Diego Breastfeeding Center Foundation has identified the need for increased diverse representation of lactation consultants in San Diego County. With very few BIPOC IBCLCs, a large percentage of our local population has limited access to IBCLCs who understand the unique cultural experiences/perspectives that inform their feeding and family decisions. We also recognize the unique barriers that BIPOC individuals face when obtaining the education and clinical hours to become an IBCLC. The Feeding our Future scholarship’s mission is to eliminate these barriers for BIPOC folks who want to pursue their IBCLC, as well as provide an on-going support system so that they may thrive in their new career. Over the next 3 years, the SDBFC Foundation plans to fund 45+ academic and support fund scholarships.
