The Feeding our Future Scholarship
The San Diego Breastfeeding Center Foundation has identified the need for increased diverse representation of lactation professionals in San Diego County, Imperial County, Murrieta, and Temecula. With very few BIPOC lactation professionals, a large percentage of our local population has limited access to lactation support provided by someone who understand the unique cultural experiences/perspectives that inform their feeding and family decisions. We also recognize the unique barriers that BIPOC individuals face when obtaining the education and clinical hours to become a lactation professional. The Feeding our Future scholarship’s mission is to eliminate these barriers for BIPOC individuals who want to further their education in the lactation field, as well as provide an on-going support system so that they may thrive in their career. Over 3 years, the SDBFC Foundation plans to fund 45+ academic and support fund scholarships.
