Robin Kaplan, M.Ed, IBCLC, Executive Director
Robin Kaplan is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), owner of the San Diego Breastfeeding Center, founding host of the Boob Group podcast, and founder of the San Diego Nursing in Public Task Force. She is also the author of Latch: a Handbook to Breastfeeding with Confidence at Every Stage. Robin completed her lactation consultant training and certification at University of California, San Diego in 2009. She also holds a Masters in Education from UCLA, a multiple-subjects teaching credential from UCLA, and a BA in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. Robin offers in-person lactation consultations, teaches prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding classes, and supervises lactation interns. She also has presented on a wide-variety of breastfeeding topics at national breastfeeding workshops and conventions. |
Brie Weigandt, Fundraising and Community Outreach Coordinator
Brie brings her passion for breastfeeding equality to her role at the Foundation! As a first-time breastfeeding parent, she struggled at the beginning and looked for support from an IBCLC. This help was integral to the successful breastfeeding journey she is on with her son, and in an effort to ensure all families have this opportunity she has made breastfeeding equality and advocacy a part of her life's work. Brie grew up in Burlington, Vermont and received her B.S from Skidmore College in upstate New York. She has experience with Non-profit Campaign Fundraising and is passionate about connecting with the people and world around her, striving to make a positive impact for her family and her community. Brie lives in San Diego with her husband, young son and three cats. |
Gaby Cavins, Admin Assistant
Gaby is a former Naval Officer, equity advocate, and the Board Chair of the California Breastfeeding Coalition. Her passion for breastfeeding began with her struggles as a first time parent and she brings that experience to mentoring active duty breastfeeding families, education, and advocacy. Gaby is from Fort Worth, Texas and received her B.S from the United States Naval Academy. She is currently a M.A candidate at the University of San Francisco, where she is also a McGrath Fellow. She lives in Chula Vista with her husband, three children, two dogs, and cat. |
